It is a great joy for me to connect and commune with students in learning their chosen instrument they wish to learn to play. I have a B.S. from Antioch University. I place great value in their well being and helping them to learn to play their instrument. I come from a family of Concert level musicians. I began playing the saxophone when I was nine and have continued. Read More

Apart from only taeching, I also love to learn. I love to learn about what inspires people, about what motivates them and what they dream of becoming or acomplishing. No judgements, no rushing. Everybody learns at they're own speed. I set realistic goals and encourage students to find they're own style of expression. Learning music should always be fun. As a father of a 2 year old whom loves his guitar, I can teach from the youngest of students, to the more advanced ones. Read More

My methods as a teacher are very vast. I have taught many people and my success in teaching is unrivaled. I am able to make my students change direction, focus, get back on track, use a tangent to further a topic and much more. I think most music teachers focus on the music and not enough on their abilities to teach. I have been a preschool teacher and filled various other educational roles. Read More

I continued my studies with Berklee online courses on jazz improvisation, music theory, songwriting, and recording. My musical background includes playing in many different groups over the years; I'm fluent in rock, alternative, blues, metal, singer songwriter, and jazz/fusion styles. I've toured the USA and performed from small clubs to huge venues (House of Blues, Whisky A Go Go, Fairgrounds, Camp Pendleton sponsored events, etc.), I've recorded on many records, and have made my living solely playing music for about 6 years now; Read More

For my younger students I like to teach fun, recognizable songs and mix in some basic music theory. In my experience, children can learn and memorize very well when engaged with songs they can relate to. For adults, I like to assess what the individual students goals are and create a lesson program specifically created for that. For example, whether a student want's to exceed in reading music and classical repertoire or improvising lead blues guitar, a combination of technique, repertoire and theory can achieve any such goals. I started teaching guitar and bass in 2003 just a few years after the movie 'School of Rock' came out and I decided I wanted to do something different with my students -- I wanted to teach to them how to be in their own dedicated bands. I taught them to write their own songs and how to have stage presence while in group classes at the same as teaching each individual band member their specific instrument in private lessons before or after band class. There are many kinds of method books that all get the job done, but ultimately growth is up to the student and if the material they study can maintain their interest. For this reason, I treat each student individually and work with their own goals and interests. Some students are more interested in modern genres such as rock, blues or country, and will in turn be more likely to rely on tablature throughout their musical careers. Read More
