I began my teaching career in Texas.  I have worked as a private guitar instructor at various music schools in Texas and in Southern California for the past twelve years.  I also enjoy teaching guitar, ukulele, and bass guitar to students in my home studio. I've been teaching students from age 5 to age 85. With my younger students, when they arrive at lessons, I asked them for their numbers. The numbers are the amount of minutes each younger student practices per day. I tell all of my students you should target a minimum of 35 minutes per day, per instrument. Every student progresses at their own pace. I write out the homework for the week on a piece of paper for both them and the parent to see. When their expectations are written out, it's easier to see how far they've progressed. Most of my lessons start out with asking how their week went and how much practice they were able to get in. We then review the material from the week before and talk about the progress or any difficulties they may have come across during the week. Read More

I first picked up the guitar at the age of 10 and took lessons from instructors for the first few years. In High School I became much more passionate about music, and began self teaching myself how to play songs and solo. By my Sophomore year I began playing with bands, and that snowballed throughout high school. I self taught myself much of the foundation of music theory, and a few years later studied under a Los Angeles based teacher who helped me connect all the dots and really take my playing to another level.
