I will then begin to work into fingering, picking, chords and other basic elements. Beginners are also instructed on the foundation of all music which is melody, harmony and rythym. For the more advanced student I find, most want to know more about technique, finding their own sound, theory and a more advanced knowledge of how to increase their abilities on guitar. Positive reinforcement is everything! While there will always be room for improvement and growth, it is crucial to acknowledge successes throughout each lesson. Realistic goals should be set for the individual at each lesson. Most importantly, it is not a race. Adaptations will be made accordingly based on the learning pace of each student. Read More

I specialize in songwriting, and love to work with students of all skill levels who want to begin composing their own songs but aren't certain how to begin. Read More

I began teaching guitar very soon after I started performing myself. I had already had an extensive background on other instruments so the private lesson setting was second nature to me. In high school I taught many beginners and learned how to show younger students to build coordination between their fingers and the guitar while at the same time acquiring a large repertoire of songs that many students like to learn. My teaching style is to get the beginners and intermediate players to able to get to the point where really enjoying their lessons while really improving their skills. This makes me feel very good to see them grow musically. I set reasonable goals for them to strive for and help them get to the next level. By trying to find out what inspires the student, this will make a huge impact on the student's interest to continuing to perform at their best. Read More
