I generally ask what your musical interests are and then I find a method specific for each person. I work on identifying chords, improvisation,playing melodies and song writing as well. I am a fan of William levitts books or jazz guitar which is a method I learned at berklee and is a very useful book for picking teqnique in a fun way , exploring some classical etudes for electrical guitar and i find this to be a great tool for developing speed, ear training and identifying chords with different sonorities to them. Point is, he would listen to songs on the radio like songs from The Beatles and then teach me them. My job is to assess the students abilities and lead them down the appropriate paths to achieving their musical goals. My goal is to cultivate musicianship.  Students are encouraged to develop technical skills as a means of creative and emotional expression.  Sight reading and improvisation are taught simultaneously with music theory and composition.
