In 1999, I was certified to teach Music K-12 by the state of North Carolina after attending NC Central University. What's important to me is that by the end of the day, they have learned something new, regardless of what it is. I maintain the pace of the students and I will make sure that they're learning at a comfortable rate. Usually I'll make sure that the goal for the lesson is obtainable and we can achieve. Then during the lesson we work through to reach that goal, and depending on the progress will then determine the pace of the next lesson. Read More

For beginner students that usually means providing a beginner method book to introduce the fundamentals of music (the Hal Leonard Guitar Method is my go-to for aspiring guitarists). Read More

I like to create a relaxed and welcoming environment, and my students have commented on my approachability and my ability to create a nonjudgemental environment. Private lessons should be a place where students feel comfortable experimenting with what they have learned and being open to always learning new things without the fear of making a mistake. I help my students build a strong technical foundation so they have the freedom to express their creativity and play the songs that they have dreamed of playing, without any technical setbacks getting in their way.
