I started playing guitar in 2000 and began teaching people my freshman year (2003)for extra money while earning my Bachelors in Marketing from the University of Southern Indiana. I have been giving lessons ever since then. I have an extreme passion for playing and try to encourage my students to find the same passion. When teaching I mix the lesson with the basics and theory while incorporating the music styles of their favorite players and bands. Read More

I specialize in teaching beginner guitar... even students who have never touched a guitar. I typically begin by teaching a very simple chord progression to a popular rock song, and by changing the strumming pattern, it's 2 songs in 1. By the end of the first lesson, I want the student to be able to play a song, not just random chords, so they can play along to it as practice. Then I assess what style, song, or band the student wants to learn so we can work towards playing material from that group or artist. Read More

I was eight years old when seemingly out of nowhere I told my mother and father that I wanted a piano. Their wise response was "well you will have to take some lesson's first!" Fortunately, the very first instructor they found me was a wonderful teacher named Gordon Adams who not only stressed the importance of theory but also taught me how to play with great passion. He would pick one piece for me to work on, which was usually classical, and then he would let me choose another piece of my own desire. Read More

I am very flexible with my teaching methods and put together the best style matching the student's learning strengths. Furthermore, I update and change my methods if I feel the current method is becoming ineffective. I keep my lessons interactive with the student because the time is for the student to retrieve as much information as he/she can regarding their instrument and they can build a stronger week of preparation heading into the next lesson. Currently my most used methods are teaching via classical, pop & jazz, and Suzuki methods. Read More

I like my students to build skills that musicians possess and in order to do this I incorporate a lot my own creativity into my teaching. I base most of my teaching on Hal Leonard's Guitar Method, and I combine this with technical exercises I create according to the need of each student. My lessons are focused on gaining an understanding on how to be functional in guitar playing while also enjoying it. Read More

Simply, it is important to set clear goals, and understand all aspects of what one aspires to achieve. So, I always make a strong effort to cater to the needs, interests, and goals of my students, whilst building their general knowledge of the musical arts. On the same token, I am not a book teacher. In my experience and opinion, books are merely tools to be used to increase the greater spectrum of ones musical prowess. Read More
