I believe in using a book and some basic tools, such as a player by which to play music (sometimes it's necessary to listen to a song in the moment to learn it myself on the quick and then teach it). So I was to cover the basic essentials of guitar playing, which includes scales, chords and techniques (ie, plucking techniques, 'tricks of the trade' like tapping, etc.) I believe in assigning homework. I approach teaching in layers. Step one leads to step two, we cant skip steps! I find it important that for beginners we follow this structure. More advanced students will be on a case by case basis in regards to where we start. I emphasize imprivisation in every lesson weather it be on drums, piano or trombone. Playing music right off the top of your head, and in the moment is something you can't learn out of a book! Read More

The best award for the teacher is seeing his student develops his own talent. And I'm sure that every one is talented and the only question is how it talent will be enriched and developed. I encourage my student being their true self in performing, feeding from traditional and modern sources but keeping his own unique voice or playing style, accomplishing his personal goals, without comparing his own dynamics and results with other people, but working on becoming better than himself every day of learning. My teaching methods depend on the student's age, experience and skill level. I do my best to try to keep it interesting. I teach my students songs that they want to learn, but at the same time I explain the music theory that goes with it. I teach finger and coordination exercises to help with technique. Knowing scales and chords is a must for clear understanding of how harmony works. Read More

Classes are customized per the student's individual needs. For some students, this means a standard repertoire: Schradiek, Scevcik, Hrimaly for violin. Hanon for piano. But for others, they would do better with a less formal approach. In all cases, the use of the ear is fundamental and primal. We will learn how to hear, and how to listen for timbres and intervals. (Basic interval training will be a part of everyone's lesson, as there's really no way around that.) Some students are intimidated by the classical repertoire, and the demands the classical tradition places on musicians. Read More

For novice players, I generally start with a simple song, usually one by the Beatles but most importantly, a song that the student loves and will feel a great accomplishment learning in order to gain confidence. Then I delve more specifically into technique. Each song should teach a technical lesson! Read More

I've had the opportunity to teach Ensemble music in a High school for students between 12-16 years old. Also did master classes for adults looking into genres like Boleros, Vals and Classical Music (Nylon Guitar). I've had 50= students doing private lessons with me and couldn't be happier of the results that they made with me. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
