I began teaching in my undergrad to help pay living expenses and have been teaching ever since in private studio, public schools, and private music schools. In total I have taught for eight years and change. I strongly encourage my students to perform in public and play music with others as much as possible. I began teaching guitar in high school to middle school students and continued teaching children and adults throughout college. While in music college, I grew to start to teaching bass guitar as well as drums. My teaching style is focused yet fun. Me and my students always have a good time through my curriculum of theory and how it relates to music they enjoy. Whether it’s finding music theory in Taylor Swift song, or learning the guitar neck through a Beatles solo, I always find a way to teach through interests that the students have rather than force a cookie cutter approach. Music lessons should be fun  - I have practical tips for practicing but the student's desire to learn will be the drive. The most important thing is to keep picking up that instrument - even if its for 5-10 minutes a day. By modeling that all teachers are still students, I create a safe and supportive environment. I like to hear what kind of music my students are listening to and incorporate that in the process, as it excites and motivates students to play the music that they love to listen to.  Read More
