I reinforce musical and instrumental concepts through play, so they learn without even realizing it! Middling children (Ages 8-12) can often handle a more rigorous curriculum. In conjunction with these books, I select a repertoire that corresponds with their current abilities, and work my way up from there. For adults and more advanced students, I use various technical studies such as Sevcik, Kreutzer, and Rode, and standard Rep using the International editions. We will start with the fundamentals of our vocal instrument, air flow, breath support, and the components of the body that make up the vocal passage so they can understand how singing actually works. We will do vocal warm ups and exercises to open the voice and prepare them for singing.
