As a highschooler I was very motivated to help the young musicians of the Middle School. I would dedicate a period of my day to running sectionals and teaching students in the Middle and High School. Though I was never paid for this work, as I was just fine doing it for free, I learned much about effective and ineffective ways of communication in teaching. For all students, grasping the fundamentals of pitch and rhythm is essential, so exercises that continually reinforce these fundamental skills are a typical first order of business for each weekly lesson. Simultaneously, I guide the student through proper posture, form, breathing, and mental preparation.
