I start my beginning students off with learning to read music notation simply from a rudiment sheet and moving into a cd play a long book with basic drum rhythms and song structure. For intermediate to advance students, I typically start with Stick Control for the snare drummer by George Stone. For basic drum set we start with "The Rhythm Book" covering all drum set styles. I work with Bastien, Alfred, and Nikolaev's methods. I also like to use different ways of teaching for different studends as one might not be as fun and satisfactory to everyone. I love giving my students the option to expess themselves and approach them with the methods they enjoy and desire. I love to encourage my students to develop their teaching, technical and artistic abilities. For instance, the first class helps me to analyze and have an approach to the students playing. Then, I ask about his interests or concerns regarding technique, musicianship or repertory. All this allows me to make suggestions that help create a program based on the student's needs.
