From an early age I made the decision to dedicate myself to the arts. Teaching music has been a reward for me. A teacher is considered a role model. By being a role model, I hope to inspire my students to want to learn more. I want to provide my students with knowledge to reach their full potential. I want to show them the tools they need to succeed. I hope years after they have left my lessons they remember how curious and engaged they felt. Read More

As a teacher, I emphasize a positive-focused teaching method. I work with each student as an individual, based on their goals and learning styles. In lessons, I focus on relaxed, correct posture and playing position, in addition to ensuring rhythms, pitch-reading, and theory are understood. I also spend time with students focusing on expressive aspects of music, with the goal of performing in a studio recital or other venue. Read More

Playing music is a passion of mine and always makes me happy. Therefore, there is nothing I enjoy more than seeing a student who has been working hard on learning something accomplish their goals and improve. I encourage all students to practice as much as possible. There is no way to improv without practice. In order to keep them interested and make it not seem like they are practicing, I like to assign songs for the student to learn that incorporate the skills we are working on. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to 2005, as I began teaching private English as a Second Language in both my home and students’ homes in Beijing, China. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for young students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for their studies. I’ve also found that a combination of different activity exercises can go a long way in helping students enjoy their studies and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
