Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet
I’m a positive instructor who thoroughly loves working with students, helping them meet their goals, and enabling them to enjoy music for the rest of their lives! I have a Masters in clarinet performance from Indiana University, but also hold a Bachelors in music education with a current K-12 instrumental teaching license. I’ve been blessed to perform all over the United States, at Carnegie Hall, and in 5 other countries with orchestras, bands, and a drum & bugle corps. Read More
Instruments: Drums
If teachers skip the fundamentals, there is no foundation. I think the best teachers integrate fun with drills which creates the best results. I am a competitor by nature, so I have a goal to get the best out of my students. I will do what I have to do to make sure these students can play by the time we are done. As long as the student is enjoying themselves and getting better at their instrument, that is all we can ask for as leaders! Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Saxophone Flute Organ
I first started music at a young age through my local church; my first instrument being flute. I studied flute for many years before taking formal voice lessons. This led me to become a voice performance major at the Manhattan School of Music, where I sang lead roles in and outside of the school. In addition, I continued my flute studies as well as strengthen my piano skills. I've had the opportunity to perform at the Kimmel Center as soloist and chorister, Symphonic Space (NYC), as well as abroad in Italy and France. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
With younger beginning saxophone students I start them with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements book 1. This Provides a great foundation for students to start on and benefits in the long run. For mid range skill level students we start with (depending upon skill) the Rubank beginning or intermediate method book. This provides a lot of melodic material for them to grow as a musician. Lastly, for the advanced we would start with Ferling Etudes which really challenge the student at a higher level. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Voice Trombone Saxophone Flute Clarinet Oboe
As a teacher, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing a student develop a passion for music. If my students do not leave every lesson feeling inspired, encouraged, and wanting to practice and play music, then I am not doing my job. Just as I tailor each lesson to match the individual student, expect the student to grow and develop as a musician at his/her own pace. Ultimately, music is universally accessible and I want to foster a love and appreciation for listening to music as well as performing music. Read More
