I first started teaching private guitar lessons while with Eberhardt Music Corporation. I taught students ranging from 7 to 25 for a period of one year. My next teaching experience consisted of teaching Class Guitar at Buerkle Middle School in the Mehlville School District. Next,I taught a guitar class of ten students while employed with the Inland Valley Performing Arts Center. My teaching experience goes back to college when I would help out non-piano playing music students for their piano class. (Yes, if you go to school for music, you have to learn some piano, no matter what!). I've also taught students as young as 7, and I was a piano and band instructor at Columbia College Chicago's Blues Camp, which is for students ages 6-18. I've been teaching private lessons for about 5 years, beginning during my undergrad studies. It has been extremely rewarding to have the opportunity to share my knowledge about healthy singing and making music with others. I have experience with a range of ages and voice types, and am trained in vocal pedagogy. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for students at each lesson. I believe that private, individual lessons are the only way for a music student to become good pianists, learn at their own speed, and learn all the different parts of music that need to be learned.
