The relationship between student and teacher is foundational for growth. I take time to get to know every student as an individual to help them feel supported and comfortable in lessons. I encourage each student to set realistic goals and work at their own pace. We will work on a piece until it is performance ready, meaning it is note perfect, memorized, and blocked. I started playing piano since I was about 4 years old and I've been teaching since the summer of 2017. I passed the ABRSM Grade 5 Music Theory exam in 2012 and the ABRSM Grade 8 Piano Performance exam in 2016. I also won several music scholarships during high school. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. Beginners need to learn to crawl before they can rock but everything learned will be for a definite purpose and not just because that’s how it’s always been done. Drum for 2 students (one student was blind).   Performance - accompanying choirs and church (acoustic piano), marching band (trumpet and percussion), worship bands (acoustic drum set and synth), and orchestra (timpani and bells).
