Flutist Gina I. “Rattles speakers and expectations with stop-time razzle, vocal (flute-talk) and electronic (phaser) effects" (NYC Jazz Record). The New York-based musician is a recent recipient of a 2016 New Music USA Impact Award and a 2015 New Music USA Project Grant. ​Over the past year, Gina has performed in collaboration with artists stemming from the New York Downtown music scene incorporating classical and contemporary music, free improvisation, and electronics. In 2016 Izzo released Crashing Through Fences by Timo Andres on Ian David Rosenbaum's debut album Memory Palace (VIA Records), and was selected for a fellowship at the Bang on a Can Festival Residency at MASSMoCA where she performed and premiered works by John Luther Adams, Julia Wolfe, Missy Mazzoli, Louis Andriessen, among many others. During our lesson I am showing you how to play, the real work is done on their own time. I tell them that 15 minutes every day is better than an hour 1 day a week. My studio is in my home and works as both a lesson studio and a recording studio, so we can even record the progress of my students so that they can hear themselves and where they can improve. The clarity of lyric diction in any languages is rudiment for the singers. Also, I show them how to maintain the breath control economically for a healthy singing. "The sound is the compression of the air and the diaphragm is the support for the breath." I have been through the misinterpretations about the breath controls by the diaphragm, with many other teachers and singers in the past. We all have our own unique vocal instruments and we have to train our minds to picture of our sensitive vocal cords' healthy functioning by nature. Read More

I was born and raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where I learned to play drums from my dad, an important figure in the music scene there, and by listening to and copying the drummers on my favorite records.
