I've enjoyed teaching a wide variety of students each year since 2009 with most being middle or high schoolers. Many students the opportunity to perform in recitals or other public performances and several students successfully auditioned for Maryland All State Ensembles. I was a private instructor and led woodwind sectionals at the Bullis School in Potomac, MD where I taught lessons for 8 years. I think it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I try to set goals for my students which match with the student's learning pace at each lesson. Additionally, by trying to find out what inspires the student, I can tailor my instruction to their wants and needs successfully. All students are different and therefore will require different methods of teaching. I plan on assessing and observing each student to see what method will work best for them. I learned the Kodaly method in school and plan on using that method for my students. I have always had a passion for music and have worked hard to be able to enjoy playing it today. I understand what it takes to get enjoyment out of music and above all else I try to get my students to enjoy it as well. After studying at American University and Amsterdam Conseratory of Music I graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Music Performance in 2013. For middle school aged through adult students, I use either Progressive Steps to Syncopation by Ted Reed or Standard Snare Drum Method by Benjamin Podemski. For young drumset students, I use Alfred's Drumset Method by Dave Black. For middle school aged through adult students I use Realistic Rock by Carmine Appice for rock styles and Advanced Techniques for the Modern Drummer by Jim Chapin for the jazz idiom. Read More
