My teaching experience started in my undergrad career when I started taking students on part time. I supplement my live performances income with teaching because I love to teach and see my students' love of the bass increase with each lesson. I like to tell my students to practice everyday even if it is only for 10 minutes, because it gets them into a routine. As an instructor at an after-school music academy, I coached jazz ensembles ranging in size from big band to combo and taught private saxophone lessons. From teaching students of most age levels, I have learned several approaches to teaching jazz music and improvisation. Connecting with each student in a way they understand and find enjoyable almost always leads to quicker and more satisfying results for the student. I first started learning the guitar in high school. I found I had an affinity for the instrument so I continued to study classical guitar and piano in college. I first started giving lessons my junior year in college and have continued to teach ever since. I am also currently the music director for the Yorba Linda United Methodist Church in Yorba Linda California. There she played as a soloist with the Sofia Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, the National School of Music Lyubomir Pipkov Youth Brass Band, and the Pioneer Orchestra.
