For beginning students, I usually start with a reputable method book that will allow them to advance in "grades" as the skills get better.  At earlier stages of learning, the focus is on the technique towards learning the instrument.  As a student progresses into intermediate and advanced stages, several pieces from the solo repertoire (and if available ensemble pieces) become part of the curriculum.  Throughout the advancement in levels, I try to focus on selecting pieces that the indivdual student will have interest in while balancing pieces necessary for learning more difficult musical techniques. Tiffany C. mezzo-soprano, received her Bachelors degree of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor in Belton, TX, and has also received a Master’s degree in Voice Performance from Florida State University. Throughout her time in obtaining a Bachelor’s degree Tiffany placed 1st in many competitions such as TEXOMA NATS, and South Texas NATS. She has also received various awards such as the Harold Stark Encouragement Award, the Lucila Montoya Award for outstanding performance of a Spanish art song, and the Alice Dutcher Thornton Certificate of Honor. My teaching style is one in which students will feel comfortable, relaxed, and self motivated. I am patient, encouraging, and flexible with my students. They will set short and long range music goals and will have fun practicing their lessons and working to reach their goals. All students are different and will learn at a different pace. As I entered my first degree program at The University of Memphis, I found myself focused on performance.
