I am from the Columbus, Ohio region and am receiving my Bachelors in Music Education in May 2021 with my primary instrument being saxophone. I normally start out with the Faber and Faber Piano Adventures methods books for the piano students. This includes a lesson book and a theory book. The lesson book will teach the student the physical skill of playing piano by presenting them with leveled songs to learn. The theory book will focus more on the mechanics of music and playing and require some written work. At the start of my junior year of high school, I began teaching piano to a handful of students in my small town. It was such an exciting experience! I taught a few very young students whose moms wanted them to try out the instrument and learn some fundamentals, and I taught a few older students who just wanted to know how to play some of their favorite songs. Students are encouraged to take what they've learned and participate in recitals, competitions, and any other musical opportunity they can find. I have been teaching trumpet and conducting on and off since graduating from high school. I have also taught marching technique and drum major conducting in my summers between school. My teaching style reflects methods that did and did not work on me as I grew up learning the trumpet.
