I've been a part of local music scenes since the age of 17 and began pursuing a professional music career during my time in college, where I was sought after as the bassist for many ensembles both as a student, and as a professional. I have been teaching for more than 30 years, mostly in the public schools as well as privately. I have instructed large groups and ensembles, as well as smaller musical groups in and out of the public schools. I have been teaching for 5 years, ever since of friend of mine asked for some lessons to help him get back to singing. I loved the direct connection to this very personal aspect of peoples' lives, and I felt humbled by the trust I was given. I gained experience by doing, asking questions, and really listening to the needs of my students. For my older students I always try and find out what they would like to focus on specifically. I usually begin with what they feel their musical strengths and weaknesses are. From there we build up their strengths and create newer strengths. I create my own personal lesson plans to cater to each individual student. I've had 15 years of teaching experience. I have been a guitar and bass instructor at Choate Rosemary Hall since 1999. I also teach at SacredHeartUniversity in Fairfield, The Music Shop in Southington, and BackBeat City (performing arts center), located in Glastonbury, CT. I have also taught in my home studio for the past two years. I enjoy helping my students in building a repertoire of their favorite songs.
