For beginning musicians, I like to start with the very fundamentals of music theory in order to get them comfortable with reading music and understanding what they are doing. Books I have used in the past include the Essential Elements series and the Melodious and Progressive Etude series. I also understand the importance of enjoying what one is playing, so I always urge students find pieces or books for themselves that they are interested in, and incorporate them into my lessons. For my students, I like to follow a similar method as my piano teacher by using the Bastien method, but also adding in songs that the student may be interested in so that it is fun and motivating. I also like to teach students to play by ear every so often because this is a skill that is extremely useful. Read More
Instruments: Piano
For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Bastien Piano Basics, Faber Piano Adventures, Alfred's Basic Piano Library etc. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

For beginning students under the age of 10, I start with the beginning John Thompson book. Depending on the type of music the students want to play I will instruct them on more advance lessons that I learned from. Practically all of my lessons are taught from the John Thompson book. Read More

My methods depend on the student's age, what they may have already begun in lessons with another teacher, and I also take into consideration the assessment of their learning style-choosing a method that works best for their needs. Basically you could say that I have no 'one' method. I have as many methods as I have students because every single student deserves for me to take the time to get to know them and to find out what educational practices will fit best with their learning style and personality. Music is my life, my passion: I constantly maintain my demonstration of this, in my manner, my teaching, my performance. This, I find, is infectious to all who cross my path. I also maintain an attitude of gratitude for my talent, and my parents' love, support and encouragement of my music. By them placing me into lessons at the age of 6 (accordion!), along with my drive and dedication and high level of musical education, I am a full-time musician, performer, and music educator. Lessons always begin with a brief review over what was covered during the previous lesson and what materials were practiced by the student. New concepts and techniques are modeled by me first. I then provide several opportunities for the student to practice this new idea or skill in a variety of ways. I am also a huge fan of incorporating educational games and activities to maintain students' interest in the lesson. Read More

How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
All kids are different, I had students who started in 4yo, but I would say for most kids 6yo is the best time to start paying piano.
When will I start to see results?
I would say first results you have to see from first lessons. Result is if your child would like to get back to lesson, if you child sit and play without your reminders...
Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
Yes , I did have a teacher who inspired me to go into music. It was my elementary music school teacher.
She never forced me to do something, always was very patient and wise.
Why did you choose your primary instrument?
I choose piano because this instrument has sound as orchestra. Piano does need support - accompaniment instruments.
I guess that Piano by itself is orchestra in good hands!!
What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
My accomplishments is my students, taking places at competitions, simply enjoying to play new piece,
having fun to perform at Christmas recital, picking very first familiar tunes:)
Have any of your students won awards or been selected for special honors? How have they succeeded?
Yes, I have a lot students who took places at competitions. They succeeded because several points connected,
like practice, patience, persistence , family support, teacher's correct approach and of course drop of genius!
What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
The hardest thing to master in any way is to be very persistent , keep positive way of thinking, do not give up,
May the goal and try to reach it !
Do you use specific teaching methods or books? (Ex: Alfred, Bastion, Suzuki, Hal Leonard) Why did you choose them if you did?
Yes, I do have several my favorite teaching methods books, but its not my choice but my students just show interest to one type of the books and trying to to avoid another one.
What does a normal practice session look like for you?
Normal practice session has to consist of several part like technique part ( scales, chords, arpeggios..), working on at least two songs, and 5-7 minutes theory exercises as a study glossary, aural skills, sight reading...
If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
Yes, I do have Master Music Degree in Performance, Education and Theory. I choose those three branches of music education because of successful studying piano consist of great lesson/theory support for better understanding/concert performance.
What is your dream piece to perform and why?
I do not have dream piece, because all mu dreams already came true!! Everything what I wanted to perform I did it.
Like G.Gershwin Rhapsody in Blue, F.Chopin Scherzo #2, P. Tchaikovsky Concerto for Piano and Orchestra. F. Lizst Sospiro and many more...
If you weren't a musician what do you think you'd be doing instead?
I do not see myself in another field. I like my job, it is not just source of income but my inspiration, my hobby, my joy of life.
What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
I like to play different styles , it depends on composition, but of course my most favorite is Romantic Style with a lot of Chopin, Lizst, Mendelssohn and Rachmaninoff
If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
I am playing one instrument -piano, and trying to do my best to be perfect in my choice. Even if I would play different instrument piano would be my favorite>
Does music run in your family? Tell us a little about your musical family members.
My parents do not play piano but my daughter is great musician. I managed to instill a love to music.
She is not a teacher but music is her hobby.
When did you decide to become a professional musician? Was it a gradual decision or was there a defining moment for you?
It was gradual decision. Even after very solid, 17 years of piano education I was looking for my own approach in teaching. And it took not one year.

I learned how to play the flute back in grade school, I'm interested in learning at a different level. The piano is also an instrument that always caught my attention.
