I was a child prodigy, able to play piano when I was 5 years. I began formal lessons when I was ten, and quickly progressed. I gave numerous recitals as a student. I received music scholarships to high school and college. I have had a lot of teaching experience in public and private schools. I am always well prepared, and patient with my students. I am comfortable teaching with many piano methods. Some of my favorites include Alfred, Faber and A Dozen a Day Series. For more advanced students, I often recommend the Music for Millions Series or Bastien Piano Literature. For jazz, I often use Hal Leonard's "Your First Fake Book" and the "Joy of Jazz". All my students also get a strong foundation in scales and theory. I also stress learning all the notes on the grand staff and there are many good apps for this on tablets and smart phones. The teaching method focuses on developing a strong ear for music in the students along with concrete musical abilities based on memory, attention, and practice.
