I have been teaching drums for 3 years and have found that teaching book work, but keeping it light and fun is a great way to keep students engaged and motivated. If the student isn't having fun then I am not doing my job. I both play and teach many different styles and can give advice on drum kits and cymbals, sticks, tuning and more. I truly love helping people uncover their passion for singing and developing their unique voice. During the first lesson, I ask the students about their musical goals and if there are particular techniques they feel they want or need to master. I ask the student to keep a record of this, as having a mission or musical goals is vital in keeping engaged with practice.
