I have played the piano since childhood and specialize in the classical repertoire, as I believe it offers the most comprehensive method of attaining instrumental mastery. However, I will not hesitate to use any material that interests a student, in any genre, provided sheet music is available. I can play jazz and improvise fluently and have also played in blues bands, but prefer to devote myself to classical music. I gravitate towards the Essential Elements for Strings books for beginner students because the books so effortlessly combine the first steps of cello playing with basic concepts of music theory and history. I then use a combination of cello duets, etudes (like Dotzauer and S.Lee), and method books (Feuillard) for technical studies. I always incorporate traditional music for the cello (like Bach Cello Suites, famous cello concertos), but work with students on whatever music they enjoy. Read More

I currently teach at a Charter School in Newark, NJ. I have taught private saxophone and trumpet lessons since I was in high school. Practicing on a regular schedule is the best way for young students to improve, as well as older students to continue to perfect their technique.
