My teaching style involves the student being able to measure their growth and assess what they can do to continue their growth. I make sure students practice on a regular basis and at the end of lessons, I have them repeat back to me what they need to continue learning. This helps them practice on their own without me in between weekly classes. When an improvement happens during the lesson, I acknowledge it right away (with younger students, I also use a visual, such as stars, so they can see their progress) and have the student say out loud what made it a good run through so they can continue to perform that way! Im from Dayton Ohio and taught piano and theory lessons at University of Dayton/ Dayton Band Music Store and from my home for many years. Average 40 students per week for a very long period. I have been playing and performing professionally most of my adult life. I am now the music director at St Clement Catholic Church in Plant City Florida. Hope to see you soon. I am looking forward to meeting with you and your family so we can discuss my teaching and professional skills. Read More

Lessons are usually pretty casual. I like to use a book so that we always have a clear path. Students can request that their lessons be more vigorous (say if you're auditioning for a part or instrument for some activity) but otherwise, I tend to keep things more laid back. Read More

Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Also For both Piano and Guitar I have accumulated many charts and Berklee School of Music pages to use as students start to progress. Read More

While in college, I performed in quite a few ensembles including the Howard University concert band, jazz ensemble, and the HU SHOWTIME Marching Band. I was in all of these ensembles for four years.
