I whole heartily believe that this is the fastest way to severe a student's relationship with creating music. The musical education process should be one that the student enjoys and wants to nurture to become the best musician they can! I am 74 years young, have been married for 42 years, have six children, two birth and four adopted from Ethiopia, live near Parker on a 5-acre property with 4 horses, several dogs and a husband. I am healthy, flexible and friendly. I play with a flutist at several assisted living facilities. I work to find things that work best for each student. I believe that reading music is a very important cornerstone in learning to play an instrument. Once we have achieved decent proficiency in it, I like to branch out beyond a basic method book into learning music chosen by my students because practicing is a lot more fun, and therefore more likely to happen regularly, if we're working on music that is fun as well as educational.
