I combine the technique, expression, and performance practices from my teaching line of musical masters with more modern teaching methods to give students a well-rounded music education. I cater each lesson to the individual needs and interests of the student, while giving them a strong technical foundation and fostering their love of music. I use scales, arpeggios, and other methods to help build technique. I also want the student to enjoy what they are performing, so I often ask the student if there are pieces they would like to learn and do my best to find an arrangement suitable to their level of difficulty. I am a Korean-born pianist and I began playing the piano at the age of 5. I entered and graduated at the top in piano performance from Sookmyung Women's University College of Music (2010) where I earned bachelor's degree in Piano Performance with Special Honor's Leadership Program. After finishing studies in Korea, I received full scholarships with graduate assistantship from Illinois State University for master's degree and received scholarship for Doctoral Musical Arts studies from College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati. I first started teaching piano and flute/piccolo back when I was in high school. When I started, I mainly focused on helping my fellow students prepare for performances and competitions. When I was in college, I was offered a temporary teaching position to teach piano at Allegro Music Academy (Lemont, IL) and I was able to work with children of all ages and playing levels.
