Instruments: Piano Flute Piccolo
I first started teaching piano and flute/piccolo back when I was in high school. When I started, I mainly focused on helping my fellow students prepare for performances and competitions. When I was in college, I was offered a temporary teaching position to teach piano at Allegro Music Academy (Lemont, IL) and I was able to work with children of all ages and playing levels. I realized that I really enjoyed working with children and from that point on, I sought out to teach mainly children. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For beginning piano students, I select a method book that will be best for the individual student. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for a recital performance. For voice students, I use the bel canto style of singing. Students will learn proper technique through vocal exercises and solo repertoire. We will focus on breathing, intonation, vowel formation, and posture among many other things. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar Saxophone Flute
For beggining students in guitar or piano, I would have them start with a basic beggining book such as something by hal leonard. With guitar I will teach basic chords and go from there to working on songs. Scales and chords will be a big part of beggining work in these instruments. As for Saxophone, I will usually begin with scales and long tone work- the later being something extremely important. Read More

Instruments: Piano Voice Trumpet Trombone Euphonium Tuba Music Keyboard
I want my students to find enjoyment and purpose from making music first and foremost. Every student has a unique set of skills, and not every student learns the same way. I believe that something valuable can be learned from any single piece of music. Etude books, like Voxman's Selected Studies, and Rochut's Melodious Etudes are my go to for daily practice, but are not the only option available. I like to take a pragmatic approach to teaching, and will modify any exercises and routines as needed to get the best result from each student. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Music
I believe each person is uniquely different in this life and that goes for music too. For piano beginners, I like to use the standard Faber curriculum, if you're more advanced we can explore adding some more challenging books such as the Hanon scales, Junior Hanon for beginners, etc. I like to supplement core pieces with scales, technical books, and ad hoc assignments that I sometimes have students pick. For voice, it will very much depend on your goals and where you are at vocally, but my voice teaching style is very much grounded in healthy technique and learning about vocal pedagogy, no matter what genre of music you want to sing! Instruments: Piano Guitar
I'm a passionate teacher who understands and cares for the success of my students. I treat each students differently as everyone learns in a different manner. I began taking classical piano lessons at the age of four and then began learning the guitar at age ten. I was mostly self taught on guitar and took a developed a deep understanding of music theory and a love for the guitar itself. Read More
