For beginner guitar students I use Mel Bays You Can Teach Yourself guitar . I emphasize chords and technique and playing melodies. For piano students I teach students first to listen and immitate and then read. Once they master some basics in reading music I introduce chords. My vocal students start each lesson with warmups and apply the techniques to the songs that they are learning. I believe in making lessons fun and enjoyable but at the same time emphasize the importance of daily practice. Read More

In 2015 I moved to NashvilleTN, I taught online with a few students but wanting to expand teaching in Nashville I've reached out to Musika to help. I've truly enjoyed teaching students of all levels from young to old and seeing their progress in learning the piano. I try to make it fun and progressive along the way. I've learned alot from teaching piano to so many people with diverse backgrounds and ages through the years. Read More

I like to use piano methods that employ the multi-key and intervallic approach to teaching piano. Alfred's Piano Method nicely blends these two methods. To keep book costs down, the Alfred's All-in-One Piano Method (children's or adult's) is a good choice for beginning students. Alfred's method is also used by many universities and community colleges, so what you learn will nicely carry over to that environment. More advanced students can bring the method and materials they have been working with and we'll go from there. Read More

I love working with students of all ages! In 2018, I received my Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy from Charleston Southern University and have been teaching ever since. I grew up traveling with my older siblings who are all musicians, and we would perform all over for concerts, weddings, social events, churches, and more. As a musician of 23 years, I have loved seeing how music brings people together and am excited to instill a passion for music into the students that I teach, as well as my own children. Read More

And they took the challenge of singing broadway, pop, jazz, and baroque all that year. They took the challenge to sing 4- , 5- part harmonies. We had a piano lab, and it was so cool to see students working on their INDIVIDUAL goals with not one student not paying attention. They were all involved in creating. You can't beat the experiences when students are singing, playing instruments, getting on instruments they thought they may never had touched (i.e. Read More

For beginner students, we start off using the beginning books from "Piano Adventures" by Faber Faber, and published by Hal Leonard. They learn to read music, improvise, music theory, and play all style of music. A typical lesson for an elementary school student would be 10 min of playing assigned pieces that they've practiced for the week, 10 min of new songs for the next week, 5 min of music theory, and 5 min of some sort of musical game.
