After getting my bachelor's degree in music education from University of Maryland, I taught general, band, and strings in Montgomery County in Maryland. Arias maintains a roster of trumpet and piano students through both her personal studio and the Monroeville Music Lesson Center. She serves as the trumpet coach for the Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, and is the trumpet instructor for the Norwin High School Marching Band. During her graduate studies, she served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant to Dr. James Stokes at the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University and was previously the trumpet teacher for George Rogers Clarke High School in Winchester, KY; a counselor for the Morehead State University Summer Arts Academy; and an instructor for the West Union Performing Arts Camp. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with either the John Schaum method book series or the James Bastien method book series. Both book series are fun, colorful, and engaging for the student. Once the student has progressed to have a better grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire that is appropriate. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

I also have taught grades 1 and 2 ABRSM piano exams in the United Kingdom, in which my students have a 100% pass rate, reaching the highest award of distinction in 3 out of 4 exams. I recently started using the Blocki method books to teach beginning flute. I have had success in using the Blocki pneumo pro to teach the diection of air flow for both the low and high register. I am also currently teaching th grade 5 ABRSM exam, which includes scales, arpeggios, sight reading, prepared pieces from 3 periods, sight singing, and aural skills. Read More
