Currently, I have returned to the United States and provide private lessons. Its a great jumping off point to work on finger placement, rhythm and picking; all the while we get to learn a song, too! My intermediate students have focus heavily on musicianship. With these types of students I often play (or jam) with them during lessons. This gives them the chance to start really listening and to use their skills to function as a musician. I find students who miss out on this can often play lots of songs but sometimes are missing solid rhythm and finger placement work. Read More

For younger beginning students, I typically use a method book, such as Accent on Achievement or something similar. For older beginners, I typically use the Rubank beginner's book. With this book, the student learns the fundamentals for their instrument. Once the student demonstrates an understanding of this, we will move on to sheet music. For more advanced students, we will typically use an etude book like Klose to explore the technical aspects of musical performance (such as technique development, phrasing, dynamics, etc.). I have been teaching for seven and half years. I have taught ages five years old to seventy years old. I am patient, kind, and and very encouraging teacher. I am an excellent musician as well. All of my students improve vastly and enjoy their lessons, which are fun and focused. I assign them pieces they want to learn whether it be classical, blues, pop, or jazz.
