I keep my lessons low pressure and laid back. This is a fun hobby for my students and I try to keep it that way! At the same time, I work with the student to set goals to keep them accountable and making progress. I don't make students perform in front of anybody else unless that is a goal of theirs to work towards. Depending on the student's level, having me playing along with them at times is also something I use to help the student feel more comfortable. Read More

My style is ambitious and positive! I want my students to realize the gifts they have, and I will support them in their journey to playing and sharing music; whether it be for the elementary school play, or for a professional track...or simply for pure enjoyment and personal growth! I do not wish to limit student to a specific style. Rather, I am here to steer people towards healthy, strong, and technically sound singing, (through physically supported breathing and mindful approaches to tone quality and song choices!) as well as solid knowledge base and empowering piano skills, The potential is limitless! I have been teaching lessons for 5 years now and got started teaching while studying at Berklee, since then I have grown a lot as a teacher. I have taught guitar and music production at Needham Public High School, where I taught students of all skill levels in classroom settings. I also currently teach at School of Rock Watertown where I teach private lessons as well as ensembles. In both of these jobs, I worked with students of varying age ranges from 7 to 70+ and learned techniques to make information stick. Read More

I typically start with the Piano Adventures series with my beginner students who are children. I also introduce songs they are familiar with alongside seasonal or festival music to make the lessons more engaging and boost their interest in learning. For intermediate students, I add materials such as exercises from Hanon or Czerny to develop stronger technique. I pair these with music by various composers so that, while building the foundation of piano playing, my students explore different styles of music. Read More

I am a Berklee College of Music & Istanbul University State Conservatory alumni. I studied classical oboe and piano at Istanbul University State Conservatory and jazz piano, oboe and voice at Berklee College of Music. Read More

I'm not opposed in principle to using any particular series of method books, and I can understand the advantages of using, say, the Bastien Piano Basics series to introduce music fundamentals. That said, I haven't found any pre-made lesson plans or materials that work for everybody. It seems like it's best to gauge what book, repertoire, and approach is best for each student based on the first few lessons, and customize the experience from that point on. Read More
