I design the curriculum according to the student's level and progress, and I highly encourage daily practice even though it could be a challenge. Acknowledging the progress and accomplishments while pointing out the places to improve on will help and motivate students to learn more. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and including the parents in these goals for full collaboration. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. What works for a 5 year old child, doesn't work for an autistic child. I’m flexible in my teaching, some students prefer classical music more than others. Im willing to try a new music style; if one loves a piece one will practice it in addition to the given piece that develops his(her) finger technique, dynamics, phrasing, articulation, so children can perform a song rather than simply reproduce notes.
