Instruments: Piano Voice
I was a member of the University of Sonora choir for more than 4 years, always leading the tenor chords, helping them to achieve musicality and hearing all kinds of voices. I helped them with the piano to sing different voice melodies in different languages. When I graduated, I started to take private students, helping them with breathing and music lines. My last two students in Mexico were really greatful with me for the vocal range growth in less than 6 months. Read More

In my opinion, my goal for the student is to be motivated, and stay motivated to try to also work at their instrument outside their lessons on their own. I would not want to cram information down their throats, but I also would not want to spend too much time on tasks that would get the student or myself carried away. The process of slowing things down and working them in chunks is, in my opinion, very efficient because the retention sets in really well and it also helps the student get in the habit of how to practice properly, and this goes for any level of student. My teaching style really focuses around developing a love for your instrument. If the student loves their instrument and the music that is written for their instrument, they will feel encouraged to practice. I try to pick up on the student's personality and learning styles and make each person's lesson a combination of my teaching styles and what works best for the student. Once we find the routine and groove that works for the both the student and myself, then the learning should come along easily and fun. Read More

I teach music by breaking down the elements of a performance to as digestible a lesson as the student feels comfortable in tackling. By setting such a pace with realistic goals I can keep students engaged and encouraged to work through material and really achieve a feeling of competency. I encourage players to learn a piece thoroughly and practice often finding that by the time they've memorized the music they can work on the finer aspects of musicality and performance that really elevates the work. My teaching style involves the student being able to measure their growth and assess what they can do to continue their growth. I make sure students practice on a regular basis and at the end of lessons, I have them repeat back to me what they need to continue learning. This helps them practice on their own without me in between weekly classes. When an improvement happens during the lesson, I acknowledge it right away (with younger students, I also use a visual, such as stars, so they can see their progress) and have the student say out loud what made it a good run through so they can continue to perform that way!
