For beginning students who are children, I start with Rubank's Elementary Method book.  This will provide the student with the basic fundementals.  I will then introduce the student to a variety of solo repertoire for his or her instrument. I had my own piano studio for 5 years and I used to hold annual recital. I took a break of teaching due to relocation. I am passionate about teaching kids piano (mostly classical and a little pops) to keep them engaged. I do request consistent practice of more than 30 minutes a week for young students. It help to establish routine for them to be successful later in piano. If a students need more help, I do recommend a longer lesson (45 minutes) or twice a week lesson. Read More

I was lucky enough to be elected the Music Director of an all male a cappella group at Missouri State and much of my time was spent teaching vocal techniques, musicianship, and arranging to the group as well as individually. At this time, I was also the tenor section leader for the Missouri State Concert Chorale under the direction of Dr. Guy Webb. After college, I pursued a teaching career in Birmingham, AL where I taught private voice and piano lessons to 30-40 students a week as well as coaching group classes and rock bands for competition.
