My parents were opera singers, I grew up in a Latin American setting, and I performed with a symphony orchestra at the age of 13. I have taught piano to students of all levels and ages. Books I use for teaching Piano is the Piano Adventures series of books by Nancy and Randall Faber, which is a great lesson book and a good basic piano method for beginners through intermediate level students. For guitar I use the Hal Leonard Incredible Chord Finder and the Warren Nunes Jazz guitar Rhythm and Background Chords and the Solo Patterns book. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire on sheet music appropriate for their level of performance. It is important to stress the fundamentals of technique for my beginner students before just playing music.
