I enjoyed growing up in Ann Arbor, Michigan and had the privilege of starting piano lessons when I was seven years old and violin lessons when I was nine. I continued my study of both instruments through high school and into college where I received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music Pedagogy. I completed a Master of Music degree in Piano Performance, May 2017; and, am currently pursuing a second Masters degree in Accompanying at Florida State University where I am an opera accompanist. My approach to teaching focuses on the importance of fundamental exercises. Along with this, I work with the student to create a dialogue that reinforces their interest in lessons. We apply these techniques directly to music-making in order to create a fun, satisfying, and rewarding experience. I have a passion for making music and I love to share that with others. When teaching new students, I believe it is important to establish that music-making is supposed to be a gratifying experience, with communication being a key factor: if a student doesn't understand something or needs further explanation, I am more than happy to work with that student so that they feel confident moving forward. For voice lessons - I like to start with a warm-up including breathing exercises, consonants and vowels exercises, posture exercises , vocalises. It takes almost half of lesson, the rest will be dedicated to repertoire. During lesson we will learn music grammar as well. I am open to any repertoire which you are interesting in.
