When taking on beginner students, I typically use a blend of method books and novice musical pieces to begin to build musicianship. With intermediate musicians, I tend to seek out anything of interet to the student while incorporating harder repertoire to strengthen musicianship and to continue to peek interest in music. In high school I was a section leader in marching and concert band for two years, leading sectional rehearsals and helping students one-on-one.
