Once I have an idea of what the student wants to accomplish it becomes easy to customize a plan for each student's development. For beginers I will start them off working through a beginig method book, gradually learning new skills and notes along the way. Eventually we will work on various solo pieces such as classical repertoire, or even movie or pop tunes. I will sometimes use Smart Music, a computer program that gives the opportunity to play along with a "band" gaining valuable experince playing with others while in a private lesson setting. My teaching style is laid back with the full intention of moving forward in both technique and enjoyment. Each Lesson is geared toward the Goals we agree on as Student and Teacher. Depending on age and experience, I set goals at 3 months or 6 months. It is crucial to allow the student to learn at his or her own rate.
