As a parent, I understand the importance of building up from foundations, and I illustrate that same dedication as I would with my own children through teaching music. I know that everyone learns at different paces, different styles, different ways. My goal is to individualize each musical teaching experience that best serves each student's needs. I meet students at their personal level, and we build from there. That allows for students to not only feel comfortable with the expectations set, but it allows for them to feel as if they can meet goals. Read More

I have been teaching privately for about four years. Most recently, I was awarded the Graduate Teaching Position at Bemont University for my final semester. I was in charge of weekly instruction for seven students, conducting both classical and commercial seminars, and leading Jazz Band and Small Group. I make it a point to have a healthy balance between the student's interests as a player as well as what I feel are essential qualities inherent in the instrument's performance practice. Read More

Being able to teach others and share my knowledge is what drives me, so I like to see progress. I have a goal-oriented approach that differs depending on the individual, but the results are always there. I love feeling the satisfaction of a student learning. Not to mention the relationships that are built and how much I learn from them in turn! It truly is a give and take relationship, just another individual sharing experience and knowledge. Read More

I love to see kids progress in music and become excited about it!! My teaching style is very paced and hands on. If a student isn't getting something, I like to slow it down until they they do. I'm very complimentary and positive during lessons; this helps the student be confident. I also try to give the student a guideline on how to practice and how to pace themselves throughout this process. Read More

I like to structure my lessons to cover three main areas of saxophone playing: tone development, fundamental technique, and musical interpretation through repertoire. I like to get to know my students, and in this way create an individualized learning plan based on their needs and interests. I believe it is important to create a learning environment where the student succeeds and enjoys making music. As a result, my students become leaders in their school bands and develop confidence that can be applied to all areas of life. Read More

Ive been teaching saxophone and piano lessons professionally for the last 7 years, and have had students go on to play for the Utah All-State Jazz Band and have earned several scholarships. I encourage regular practicing and give weekly assignments that include rudiments, transcription projects, and listening assignments. I focus on the jazz language and how its been applied to modern genres like hip hop, funk, and RnB. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn.
