While I was in student at Roosevelt University I won audition for Civic orchestra of Chicago. While I was in Civic orchestra I played as a soloist with the Chicago Symphony orchestra ( Mozart Sinfonia Concertante for Four Winds). After graduating from Roosevelt University I won 2nd/ e-flat clarinet position in South Bend Symphony orchestra. I play a wide range of genres. During my years at Mercer, I regularly performed jazz, R&B, and Gospel music throughout the state of Georgia. In the winter of 2015, I even performed with The Temptations. During my four years there, I also performed several sub-genres of Classical Music from Sonatas and avant garde to even transcriptions of Bach Cello Suites. My first experience teaching someone was when I was younger in my high school days, I was teaching my 7 year old nephew how to play ukulele which was an arduous task indeed. But through said trails and tribulations we managed to accomplish our goals together. Currently Im teaching guitar at the fine arts academy and I am teaching one student consistently while also substituting occasionally. My teaching methods varies from different styles . I teach music theory, jazz improvisation, musical concepts for all instruments, as well as saxophone and flute lessons . I prefer to teach lessons for one hour, this gives the students a full spectrum of their weekly assignments. I first began teaching the student basic fundamental which includes breathing, fingering, basic rhythms and notes .Once the student has developed these things, I develop a repertoire for the student, The first half of the lesson deals with technical exercises in the second half deals with creative aspects of music such as theory and improvisation. During the initial lesson, I determine what the student is interested in learning the best approach pace to help them achieve their goals. While I have recommend materials to varying levels of students, every lesson approach is different. With all my students, I believe keeping them engaged and excited at what they are doing is most important.
