I normally use the Standard of Excellence method books for most of my students; however, I am open minded to adjusting to each individual student's musical needs, whether it be Jazz, Classical, or whatever style music the student is focusing on. For Drummers, I prefer the Haskell Harr Method, or the Buddy Rich Method Book, as well as the Breeze Easy Method Book. The most rewarding experiences have been watching my students develop a passion for their instrument and cultivate their own voice as a musician. By reinforcing fundamentals as well giving as a thorough, detailed explanation of the hardware and tendencies of the saxophone itself, each week I encourage the student to take the primary role in their progression. I began teaching lessons after my freshman year of college in 2010 and have had students consistently since. I have worked with students from the very beginning stages to those at the college level. My students have successfully auditioned for CMEA festivals (Connecticut Music Educators Association) and NYSSMA festivals (New York State School Music Association).
