I have a lot of experience with curriculum development. My favorite books to teach from include Accent on Achievement, Alfred's Piano Book series and Essential Elements. However I can teach without a book on any instruments and compose assignments as I have done in the past. Even if I am teaching using a book, I usually do a lot of ear training and music theory based assignments that are not found in these books. Read More

I have been teaching private flute lessons since High School and fell in love with teaching in general right away. As my skills have increased, I've learned to work with private students in other instruments as well. Over the past 6 years, I have actively been working to expand my studio and teaching experience in any way possible. Since starting college, I have gained teaching experience through my private students as well as experience in the classroom. Read More

This was how my first teacher taught me, and I found his methods extremely helpful in my early years. Once they're fundamentals are developed, I will begin to work on the students first recital. My teaching style at a high level is much like I approach most things. If you are having fun, sharing a joke or two while at the same time having direction and purpose then you can accomplish almost anything. I try to give as much feedback as possible without being judgmental or hyper critical. Music is to be enjoyed while at the same time treated with a certain amount of seriousness and dedication.
