My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time and have been teaching since. Today I am a music teacher at David Posnack Jewish Day School and the drum instructor at Piper High School. Since becoming the drum instructor at Piper High School we have received superior ratings four years in a row. For beginning students, i start with the fundamentals technical basics of the instrument like long notes, scales and flexibility. Once the student has progressed, i will start with Arban's method book, H.L.Clarke Technical studies for Trumpet and my own exercises. Later i will introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. For adults, i try to find out what the student is interested in, and from there, use that with my instruction to keep the lessons engaging and fun for them, no matter their ability level. Read More

I have taught in a variety of musical settings with a wide range of students and abilities. I have taught independently as well as for organizations such as the Youth Orchestra of Central NJ. In 2012 I worked for Camp Encore Coda where I taught trumpet lessons, directed the Symphonic Band, coached jazz combos, and taught music theory/musicianship class.  My experience working as full time music faculty for Camp Encore Coda sparked my graduate research on overnight summer music camp, which has since been presented at three major professional conferences in the music education field at the state, national, and international level.
