I'm a professional trombonist, specializing in the fields of orchestral classical music, and also avant garde contemporary music, and improvised creative music. I was the first trombonist to graduate with a BM from the Colburn School, an intensely rigorous, professional level orchestra, and conservatory, I had the opportunity to work with the Ensemble Modern one of the premier European new music ensembles, and Frank Zappa's self proclaimed "last band".  In 2014, I graduated from the California Institute of the Arts,  where I studied composition, experimental music, and improvisation, and focused primarily on developing my own style of live electronics and improvisation via the trombone. I have taught in a variety of musical settings with a wide range of students and abilities. I have taught independently as well as for organizations such as the Youth Orchestra of Central NJ. In 2012 I worked for Camp Encore Coda where I taught trumpet lessons, directed the Symphonic Band, coached jazz combos, and taught music theory/musicianship class.  My experience working as full time music faculty for Camp Encore Coda sparked my graduate research on overnight summer music camp, which has since been presented at three major professional conferences in the music education field at the state, national, and international level. I then joined the international singing group, The Four Aces, where I became their musical director, bass singer and trumpet soloist for 42 years, before retiring last year. I have played first trumpet with the American Legion Symphonic Band for 10 yrs., the Symphonic Band of the Palm Beaches and South Florida Pride Wind Ensemble, plus playing lead trumpet in several big bands in South Florida. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time and have been teaching since. Today I am a music teacher at David Posnack Jewish Day School and the drum instructor at Piper High School. Since becoming the drum instructor at Piper High School we have received superior ratings four years in a row. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Faber collection (Piano basic adventures) or Hal Leonard's Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance.
