I am a passionate trumpet player, composer, and teacher. Having just moved back to the Bay Area, I am excited to share everything that I have learned with my students! In 2018, I graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Music degree in Jazz Studies. I have performed at notable venues such as the Blue Whale in Los Angeles, Yoshi's in Oakland, and The SFJAZZ Center. I have studied with Ambrose Akinmusire, Vince Mendoza, Mic Gillette, Louis Fasman, and Dann Zinn. Read More

I begain teaching as a band assistant in college. I would lead sectionals and work with students who where struggiling one on one. As I gained experiance my role and responsibly grew and I began to run rehearsals and plan for concerts. One aspect of lessons that I emphasise is musicality. Often I will ask my students to listen to the song that they are working on or watch the movie or tv show it comes from because it is important to hear and see the bigger picture. Read More

I expect practice of the assignments that I give for my private trombone lessons and am a proponent of getting my students to work hard on any weaknesses in their playing. I do set realistic goals and make sure that my trombone students are comfortable with meeting those goals. I encourage trombone students to find new material that they want to do in the future and structure my lessons with the end goal of accomplishing what the student wants to achieve on the trombone. The first lesson is always a trial lesson, in it I attempt to access where the student is musically. I also use the time to find out what the student's musical goals are . We look at things like reading, theory, dexterity on the instrument. If the student plays a wind instrument we look at things like embouchure and breathing. Once I have gotten a good idea as to the student's skill level and have spoken to the student about their musical goals and interests. Read More

My students fall in love with music and frankly they fall in love with me. Why? Because we, together, create beautiful music together and have fun and inspiring times. Teachers that drive their students to play and do homework produce people that give up on their instruments and then talk to me when they're 30 yrs old, filled with regret that they didn't continue. Not their fault! They were driven to hate their instrument. Read More

I really value input from all of my students no matter what age. This keeps our lessons fun and challenging. It is very important that each student sets their own goals to reach at the end of each lesson to achieve for the next week. I am a big advocate of positive reinforcement. For my younger trumpeters I like to use stickers and to play fun duets whenever they achieve their goals. Read More
