I have even taught adults in their fifties and sixties who want to pick up their instrument after a long absence. I take great pride in being a teacher, and few things bring me more joy than seeing a student succeed or say "Oh, now I get it!" in a music lesson. Whether I'm preparing a student for a college audition, a recital, or even just to play "Mary Had a Little Lamb" for mom and dad, every student is important to me, and every lesson is tailored to each individual students' needs. My teaching style really focuses around developing a love for your instrument. If the student loves their instrument and the music that is written for their instrument, they will feel encouraged to practice. I try to pick up on the student's personality and learning styles and make each person's lesson a combination of my teaching styles and what works best for the student. Once we find the routine and groove that works for the both the student and myself, then the learning should come along easily and fun. Read More

For beginning cello students of all ages, I normally use one of my teacher's method books: Cellocity by Helga Winold of Indiana University. As my cello students progress, I slowly introduce smaller pieces that can normally be found in Suzuki method books. After my cello students have advanced significantly, I begin to introduce more complex pieces that are found in the standard cello repertoire. Eventually, my students reach a level where they gain the ability to gauge their experience level and select their own pieces with my approval. Read More

My love of music grew as a child having a family supportive of music education. I see the participation in playing musical instruments as much of a fun activity as it is a physical and mental workout. After receiving my Associate in Science in Music I went straight into a studio and started teaching a range of students from 4 - 24 years old, and from the never-picked-up-an-instrument-before to I-can't-wait-for-the-competition levels. Teaching gives me joy because I am using my greatest talent and asset to strengthen the hearts and minds of people, young and old. Read More

I use multiples methods. One of them is the Susuki method. I consider that is a good method for beginners with a lot of techniques exercises and also includes pieces. For me it is essential that a student learn first all the techniques exercises and then start to create music. After that I started to teach how to respect the essential aspects in a piece: the fingering, the bowing, the dynamics, the tempo and others. Read More

That the beneficiaries could attract other interested candidates to the program. To be able to visualize in the future that the students are able to become great musicians, that appreciate music as a social action, and the values of education through music; and that the grown up individual could appreciate the aesthetic potentials of music so that he or she could progressively help improve his or her mood, health and quality of life. When I finally signed up for professional guitar lessons, I found that there were not just many things to learn, but many things to unlearn. I went back to school to study music at Florida Southern College in Lakeland Florida where I learned Voice and String Pedagogy. After graduating, I taught in the public school system for several years and left to establish my own private studio where I had almost 30 students at one time. Read More
