For beginning students, I generally start with Suzuki Method, Sassmannshaus, and my own methods which I have created over the years. I emphasize the importance of ear training, becuase that is what allows us to know if we are playing correctly. For intermediate and advanced students, we work very heavily on warm ups, scales, etudes, and repertoire. Michael W. is a violinist whose approach to technical growth is built from the Juilliard school of Ivan Galamian and Dorothy DeLay, combined with the Russian school of Mikhail Kopelman. Michael has won numerous awards and performed in many renowned locations including the Mann Center as well as the Kimmel Center. Early on (both in the teaching relationship and in each lesson) one must assess where the student is, as to technical and musical growth, and with the music at hand. I'm a passionate, friendly, and motivated instructor who loves working with children and adults of all ages. I love to be able to share my love of music, both through performing and through teaching. I received my master's degree from Northwestern University and since then, I have moved to the Philadelphia area, where I teach through a variety of programs, including Musicopia, the Philadelphia Youth Orchestras, the Music School of Delaware, and the Darlington Arts Center.
