Much of the frustration students find when it comes to improvement comes from the misunderstanding that something learned in music stays learned. I will do everything I can to help them achieve this goal and find a way to keep the lessons engaging. If I am starting out with an adult student, I would want to find out what they are interested in achieving and work with them towards their goal. When I think of music, I always think of the quote: "Where words fail, music speaks," by Hans Christian Anderson.  When I am teaching, nothing means more to me than seeing one of my students who was shy and not confident with themselves grow into a confident and enthusiastic person, both with music and in their life. I find that the relationship between a music student and teacher is one that develops skills for life, not just musical techniques. I feel very thankful to my own teachers for showing me how powerful my hard work and dedication was, how fun and exciting music can be, and most importantly that their criticisms of my playing always meant that they believed in me. This is why I am always concentrating on the mental and physical well-being of my students first. I pay particular attention to mental readiness, self-confidence, and stage-fright control.
