My main focus with string instruments is sound development - how to use the bow properly and get a beautiful sound from the instrument first and foremost. I typically use Sound Innovations for Strings for beginning students, and start supplementing with different repertoire as we get further into lessons. For beginning students, we start with a proper hold, left hand set up, and only after that do we get to using the bow so we can focus on getting the best sound possible out of the instrument. I know of the importance and rewards of a good music education. Playing a musical instrument can give a student much self confidence, relaxation and enjoyment. It is rewarding for me to work towards that goal for every student that I have the privilege of teaching. I share my positive musical experiences with my students so that they will continue to explore and appreciate performing and also listening to music. Read More

Open-minded and flexible, Nerea strives for her students to learn through fun, hands on activities, always leaving her lessons with smiles on their faces. Beginner students are always taught the basics of posture, positioning and how to move the bow on the strings. They then go on to learn bowing and the strings names, followed by finger position and musical pieces. Although Nerea focuses on technique, she always tries to get her student play songs/musical pieces quickly, even if they are simple. Read More

I try to understand the needs of my student; musical, technical, personal. We are all different, so we start from different points. Reaching those goals will give the student satisfaction and encouragement to proceed further. 2) Making Progress, no matter how small, every lesson. A journey is movement. Read More

I have experience with a wide-range of children and can accommodate a variety of cognitive and emotional needs. However, I do teach all ages. My youngest student was 4, and my oldest was 72. I have been teaching violin since 2017. Every student's musical journey is unique and I work with their individual strengths to help them achieve their goals. I use a classical foundation to advance a student's skills, and I use other styles of music to keep students motivated. Read More

For beginning students on violin we start with many techniques found in the Suzuki method. From there, we jump into different styles of music while still focusing on developing solid technical foundations for the student. Once we move into standard repertoire the lessons begin to change based on what the student needs. I am a firm believer in consistent practice. I would much rather have a student who practices daily for 15 minutes then a student who does not practice except for the day before their lesson for two hours. Read More
