I am a committed and caring teacher and performer who is extremely dedicated to my passion for making and sharing music. This past summer, I graduated from the Royal Academy of Music with a first class honors masters degree in violin performance, from where I also received my undergraduate and teaching degrees. I have had the tremendous opportunity to tour and perform all over the world with numerous orchestras and chamber groups since 2010, eventually establishing a base in London in 2014, where I have been teaching violin, piano, music theory and harmony to a wide range of students ever since. For intermediate students, I incorporate short concertos such as Vivaldi, Bach, and Haydn. In addition, etudes and scale practice with arpeggios are the basis for technique improvement. Other teaching materials may include Carl Flesch scale system, Hřmal scales, evčk, Wohlfahrt, Kreutzer, and Vieuxtemps. My curriculum is individualized to each students ability and interest. For this I have grown the string and choral programs in Elmhurst's 51st Avenue Academy; taught violin, viola, and chamber music at the Queens College Center for Preparatory Studies in Music; led the Stony Brook Pre-College chamber music program; taught strings and chorus in Kiev, Ukraine; taught graduate education courses at Touro College online; and enjoy teaching music at NJ's Calderone School. As a teacher I like to be very encouraging, gentle, and supportive. I make sure to encourage with positive reinforcement. When a child gets something right, I praise the accomplishment. If they fall short, I compliment them on something that well, and then add something along the lines of, "That was amazing, let's do that same thing only this time ______". In addition, I maintain an active private studio of all ages (from pre-K through beginning adults!), and I enjoy problem solving with each individual's perspective and experience in mind. I'm a firm believer that lessons should be tailored to each student's goals - there is absolutely no "one size fits all" method to playing an instrument. I feel very rewarded seeing my students develop a passion for music! I try to teach each student at his or her own pase. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more.
