For pianists, there are so many different method books, I recommend for beginners Faber Method Series for younger beginners, for adult beginners we can start with Alfred's All in One Method for Adult Beginners. I have used Alfred's Series, Piano Adventures, John Thompson's Series, Bastien Series, Playtime Piano Series (also Faber). I have taught violin for 5 years to beginners and intermediate level students. My youngest student was 4 and my oldest was 65. I have a lot of experience teaching beginner level but I also have experience teaching intermediate levels and some advanced levels as well. I have helped students prepare for orchestra auditions and for recitals. I mostly teach classical level repertoire to give my students a basic foundation of music. Teaching strategies and experience ranges differently from each instructor. For beginners, such as children, I would start with the book series 'Essential Elements'. From experience, Leonard provides the most thorough book to grasp the ability to learn violin. Scale practice and listening sessions would also be a consideration for children as repetition is best to help the younger audience learn such an intricate instrument.
