For very young beginning students, I usually start with Shirley Givens' Adventures in Violinland. After some time, I like to switch to the Suzuki books to encourage training their ears. Each student is very different, and I cater and switch method books based on each student's individual need. For all ages, I encourage them to listen to violinists they enjoy on YouTube, and choose pieces they want to learn. Even if what they choose is a challenge, I believe they will be more inspired to work hard to learn the piece if they chose it. Read More

I am a fun and easy-going instructor and I love working with people. In 2015, I graduated from SUNY Fredonia with a Bachelor of Music degree in Viola Performances. Asides from viola, I also play piano and drums at local churches. I currently teach at Edward R. Murrow High School, so I commute between Brooklyn and Queens and am willing to teach in both areas. Most importantly, learning violin should be fun.  In my lessons, my students will find a variety of rhythm games and activities.  I am not just teaching violin, but music as a whole. I feel that music appreciation needs to be built into violin lessons.  I will share pop and classical music with students, show them live performance videos, and encourage them to experiment with their own natural abilities.  I am a big communicator when teaching beginning students.
