As a teacher, my goal is to give students the technical tools and sensitivity of listening necessary to freely express themselves through the violin, no matter what level they may be. Much of my system of teaching has been passed down from my mentor Li Lin, who masterfully taught hundreds of young violinists of all ages in San Francisco before being appointed faculty at The Juilliard School. I started teaching in high school, and I've been teaching consistently for the past 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. Since then, I have studied with several teachers of the New Jersey Symphony as well as graduates of the Juliard School in New York. In the summer of 2011, I traveled to Italy where I continued my study of Italian language, art and music before graduating in the Spring of 2012. The Heartbeat Project brings violin education and concert experience to Najavo children on the reservation in New Mexico. The Joining Hands Project in Israel combined the teaching and performance of both Arabic and Jewish music to children of all backgrounds in Israel, with the purpose of spreading inclusion and celebration of differences. From all of my experiences, I most enjoy teaching. I find that spreading knowledge about something is easy and fun if you are passionate about it, and it has connected me so strongly with my students. Read More

I teach intermediate through advanced students of any instrument, beginning with basics such as key and time signatures and basic harmony.
